Working Together for Better

The JIPSD needs to work with the Town of James Island and the City of Charleston.  The PSD Commission needs to be ethical and transparent.   It is past time for the PSD to join with other Island governments to work together as partners.

As a Commissioner with the Charleston County Soil and Water Conservation District we have partnered with many public and private organizations on conservation projects. We most recently completed two EPA Watershed  Grants , one near the Bulls Bay area and the other near Hollywood. We worked with private land owners, the Towns of Awendaw, McClellanville and Hollywood, along with DHEC, EPA and Charleston County staff.  We helped over 100 low income families install new septic systems and cleaned up Bulls Bay and Swinton Creek.  When folks work together good things happen.
That's me in the yellow shirt.

Kathy is running

I have decided to throw my hat in the ring and run for Commissioner of the James Island Public Service District. I have been serving for the past 14 years as a Commissioner for the Charleston County Soil and Water Conservation District, an office that I love and will continue with as a volunteer.
The general election is on November 8, and I need your help.  There are 3 incumbents running for re-election and 5 other people along with myself running.  The JIPSD manages Fire, Sewer, and Solid Waste in the Town of James Island and unincorporated areas of James Island and in a few places in the City of Charleston and Folly Beach.  If your trash cans are brown you are in the JIPSD.  If your trash cans are some other color, don’t worry you can still help me get elected because many of your friends and neighbors are in the District.
Over the years Bill and I have found the best way to get elected is to go door to door and hand-out election material. I need ‘Block Captains” to cover a street or neighborhood.  If you do not mind knocking on a neighbor's door that’s great but if you are a little shy then hanging my campaign material on the door knob will be just fine.
I have ordered 100 yard signs (yes-I hate them too but they work getting your name out there) and I need you to put them up in your yard.  A week before the election we will put them up on street corners.  On Election Day I need folks near the polling places to hold up signs.
Social Media Campaigning- Facebook, Instagram, Google+ and email are an easy and cost effective way to spread the word about me running for the JIPSD.  I have a Kathy Woolsey for JIPSD Facebook Page now up and running.  I need you to LIKE and SHARE the PAGE. https://www.facebook.com/Kathy-Woolsey-JIPSD.  When I make a Post please hit the LIKE and SHARE buttons. I am still working on other Social Media pages and will let you know when they are launched. Next hit the MORE button and drop down to INVITE My Friends and invite all you James Island Friend to the page.
Does your neighborhood have a Facebook or website like NextDoor? See if you can make a post and share my Facebook Page.
Other things you can do:
Simply tell your friends at work, church and at the store. “hey my friend Kathy Woolsey is running……..”
Email your friend and send them my Facebook Page and other links.
I also need you to let me know about public events where I can go and shake hands.
Of course donations to my election campaign would greatly be appreciated. So far I have spent about $200 for the yard signs.  Checks can be made to Kathy Woolsey for JIPSD and mailed to 961 Mooring Drive, James Island SC 29412.
Thank you for your support
