I have decided to throw my hat into the ring one more time and run for re-election as a James Island Public Service District Commissioner. Two years ago you elected three new Commissioners who were willing to work with the Town of James Island to reduce property taxes. The Cost Share Agreement allowed the Town help reduce PSD property taxes for folks living in the Town of James Island. If you compare 2018 to 2019 tax property taxes you will see a major decrease. When you get your property tax statement for 2020 it will be lower too, but not as much because the Town’s revenues were reduced because of COVID-19. Every year Town Council and the PSD Commissioners must vote on this agreement. This November three seats will be up for the James Island Public Service District. Eugene Platt and I are running for re-election and Sandy Engelman will be retiring. There are six people running for this office, you should make sure they support the Cost Share Agreement with the Town to keep your property taxes from skyrocketing. Eugene Platt and I voted in 2019 and 2020 to support the agreement to keep your taxes down and I know we will do so in the future if we are re-elected. Where do the other candidates stand?
